WordPress Short Codes in Templates

How do you put shortcodes in your template files?

I came across a problem the other day.  I found a plugin I wanted to use but it didn’t have any php calls to invoke it, only WordPress shortcodes.  I scanned the forums and found a very good alternative from Dukessa.  By using a WordPress call to the short code  I could add the call to the header.php file.

Here is the call format:

<?php echo do_shortcode(’[shortcode]‘); ?>

Here is an example of how to embed a short code in a header.php file for NextGEN Gallery plugin.

<?php echo do_shortcode(’[slideshow id=1]‘); ?>

Give it a try, it works great.

Free Screen Capture Software - SnagIt Verions 7.2.5 From TechSmith

This is a great screen capture program and better yet it is free.  A few years ago TechSmith gave the program away for free.  They have canceled that offer but you can still get it for free following these steps.  Also, you can get 1/2 discount if you decide to upgrade to the latest version.  I just ran this and it works great.

1. Visit the following Avanquest Advent Calendar 2008 offer page: http://web.avanquest.com/special_offers/2008_calendar/calendar.cfm
2. Click on date numbered 13.
3. Click on Télécharger gratuitement button.
4. Enter email address (adresse email), first name (prénom), and last name (nom).
5. SnagIt Free Software Key
6. Click Continuer when done.
7. A serial key of SnagIt 7 will be displayed on the screen.
